However the idea for this new year that came to me was based around what is within this song, a firm favourite of mine for decades.
"Though you've played at love and lost
And sorrow's turned your heart to frost
I will melt your heart again.
Remember the feeling as a child
When you woke up and morning smiled
It's time you felt like you did then.
There's just no percentage in remembering the past
It's time you learned to live again at last.
Come with me, leave yesterday behind
And take a giant step outside your mind.
You stare at me in disbelief
You say for you there's no relieve
But I swear I'll prove you wrong.
Don't stay in your lonely room
Just staring back in silent gloom.
That's not where you belong
Come with me I'll take you where the taste of life is green
And everyday holds wonders to be seen.
Come with me, leave yesterday behind
And take a giant step outside your mind."
Yes it's the psychedelic Monkees number "Take a Giant Step" as written
by Gerry Goffin and Carole King
Let's take this line "There's just no percentage in remembering the past,
it's time time you learned to live again at last", it's not saying it
never happened just don't be stuck there. If needs be, try and figure out
why what you attempted to do failed but move on.
For me the New Year should be about making a new start, exploring
different things and maybe this blog will be different by the years end.
How many of us seem to go along with a limited idea of what is within
our minds abilities and overview of the World not taking a a giant step
outside our mind?
I've been guilty of it, the product of social conservative upbringing whole
areas were walled of as places that if you peered over you might never
be the same and yet who is to say this whole other world isn't
necessarily wrong? More to the point it could be where you really
belong after all!
So here's to exploration!
