The internal and external images

Forty years ago we would not of been having this conversation as we were women and girls and pretty much whatever we did at home and increasingly at work, we just wore dresses and skirts. The end.

Thirty years ago, I noticed on the cusp of becoming a teenager things had started to change, we saw women at social events and even in school wearing trouser suits, and yes in some contexts they could be more modest such as say physiotherapists.

But otherwise as a T Gurl, it remained an enigma that what one desired so much was indeed not so desired by women and later on girls in schools too.

For me it was the variety by length, construction, material and prints compared with the usually drab monotones of trousers, the freedom of legs to move without constraints and the airiness.

I just felt better wearing skirts, that they represented being the real authentic me.

Summery but in the Fall?

Summer may have left for The Fall, but it's still warm enough to wear this lovely co-ordinated blouse and skirt rose print combo with perhaps a necklace and cute ankle socks.

It maybe from the Women's rather than the Teen Girl's racks but it kinda works for T girls who are more like that such as me.

It's less about the label and all about getting looks that work and reflect the real you.

Waves!

After the last couple of relatively extensive music posts we're going back a bit to where some of the notion of jut doing a blog came from like finding a look and a  voice that really is the T girl I am.

I tend not to veer towards more adult women's formal or smart formal looks cos, how do I put this, it's not how I see me.

Smart for me means something more like the sort of blouse and skirt combo you'd wear at school or in a office filing and typing up things for your boss.

The more smart casual end might be modest black dress with white tights although I'm not really a tights girl, something I shared with Linda in school sixth form still wearing girls socks.

These  socks are more my thing, pretty woven pattern, traditional long sock length rather than the over the knee sorts with a pretty lace frilled top that can look sophisticated rather than necessarily child-like.

They suit dresses like that but can be worn with school/office skirts or summery frilled and bowed dresses too.
