Roberta Flack

Some artists you may follow but perhaps only get the odd single of, not least in my earlier days when the budget for records of any sort was far more limited as you worked through lists of albums you'd heard and wanted and new ones, trying to get a reasonable balance.

Soul music was always a love of mine, so from the early 1990's I always tried to build a collection although much was skewed towards Motown and Philadelphia International as much my 80's soul buys were the various acts on Solar such as Shalamar and Tabu with the S.O.S. band and the like.

Thus what some would consider classic Atlantic 60's and 70's artists such as Aretha Franklin, and the more singer songwriter sorts such as  Roberta flack were neglected.

Recently I picked up this rather good compilation from 1981 that covers her biggest hits such as Killing Me Softly With His Song and collaborations with Donny Hathaway such as Back Together Again from 1980 which I had on single.

I'm pleased with it.
