A Model with a difference!

One person whose gotten the eye of many fashion commentators at this years London Fashion Show is Andrej Pejic a 19 year old model originating from Serbia, Europe and raised in Australia.
He's modelled wedding dresses for Jean Paul Gaultier as well as many others.

What I find interesting about him is he identifies with the male social gender but is very happy to model both male and female clothing unlike others who were what the Americans call Cross dressers or those who were born biologically male but who transitioned.

Sports

Hockey was and remains a big passion of mine be it Field or Ice stemming from my youth although I'd need to play in a disabled team cos with my physical disabilities it just wouldn't work any other way and actually I did play wheelchair sports growing up with cerebal palsy. Hockey, netball and rounders were the big ones with me.

Supergrass

Here at the Blog Team (tm), we like Supergrass and I'm putting together a little list for the vinyl project.
It may surprise some but actually every single Supergrass album and single has actually had a vinyl release but most have been ahem... limited and are not on catalogue as new although you may come by the odd one in a store left from a few years back.
Throw in the 'in demand' cult status of this recently disbanded group and expect to to do some serious hunting to build your collection as they are scarce as well as getting expensive.

I Should Co-Co 1995 UK
The home of Strange Ones and Alright, mine has a bonus 45 thrown in which I brought new and goes for a minimum of £30 these days when you see it.
In It For The Money 1997
A ground breaking album with such gems as Late in the Day and Sun Hits The sky but while the cd is very loud sounding, the vinyl I believe was mastered separately and not so loud.
I was very fortunate after several failed bids to spot a copy just come in at Vinyltap while at work - this that was very naughty of me to be scanning the bay when i was meant to be working but I spotted this copy in said to be Ex cond for the textured sleeve and the actual vinyl on sale at a fixed price not to far removed from the last auction prices so i snagged it and paid on the spot. luckily my boss didn't spot me logging into Paypal!
It arrived today and was more like Near mint!!!
Supergrass 1999 album with Pumping On Your Stereo. I have the cd and minidisc versions but was able to get the vinyl with the limited edition poster from dealer in Japan and it was mailed 1 hours after the devastating earthquake.
It sounds much more dynamic compared to the cd version
.
Life On Other Planets 2002
Includes Grace was able to get used in Excellent condition without breaking the bank
Road to Rouen 2005
Musically adventurous album from the jazz inspired Coffee In The Pot through hard rock it's a highly enjoyable album. I have a copy but it's condition bought used wasn't anything like the vendor said it was.
Diamond Hoo Haa 2008
Have brand new copy.

Rastamouse

If some people get their way this guy and his friends will be banned from the TV screens.
Based upon the popular childrens books by Michael De Souza, it's set in Cheeseland. He is an animated reggae-singing mouse who has become a hit for the BBC, entertaining children with his attempts to fight crime and spread love and respect.
Athough the books themselves are clearly written in Jamaican patiois rhyming the depiction of this rodent and his friends in street fashion and voiced by Black British actors seems, to have upset some 100 people the majority of whom are White accusing the show of racism or accidentally placing their children in situations that might be deemed racist.
All I can say was I lived through the maelstrom of post Powell racism with its offensive language and attitudes that even infested such institutions as the Police, this show is nothing remotely like that. Actually I feel it's offensive to even consider such a series of children's stories as being so.
Back then we rubbed along, if anyone said anything we thought disrespectful to our friends of colour, the person got the message we disapproved and the message was taught in real time.
Kids say things that hurt it's true, it's wrong but practically childlike as they learn what lines not to cross through the consequences they find out.

Kiss

Work is afoot on the Kiss vinyl collection since it got trimmed in the late 80's and early 90's although I've always loved the band and have many of their albums on compact disc. The combination of the album art, sound and nostalgia of the moments when you got the new album and put it on your phonograph all point to a reason to tackle this part of my vinyl project this year.

The core left was:
Alive II -  US Original with the Evolution of Kiss booklet and thick gatefolf cover

Double Platinum - US Original in foil jacket and full inserts.

Dynasty - Italian LP
This was replaced by an US original with the poster, original inner sleeve and Kiss Army mechandising leaflet.

The original colour inner design.

Original mechandise leaflet and full colour poster with no pinholes or blu-tack marks.

Unmasked - Italian lp (no poster)

In 2014 the whole Kiss Catalogue was re-issued in remastered form on vinyl and I got a new copy of Unmasked. This included the poster!

Music From The Elder UK gatefold

Kiss Killers UK (stone mint)

Creatures Of The Night UK CANL 4.

Dressed To Kill 1975 UK original with some wear to sleeve but Excellent condition vinyl with "Bogart" label

Destroyer US with Kiss Army inner sleeve
Although only VG+ graded apart from a few crackles through Beth this plays really well and sounds much better than any European lp issue I've ever heard.
Rock and Roll Over US copy has stickers and insert but is a bit noisy.
Love Gun (no gun or merchandise leaflet) US Casablanca original for Columbia Record Club.

Basically this is a regular edition with the STERLING masters but with a sticker on the rear indicating it was for members of the Columbia Records Club, a US discount operation exclusively via mail order with frequent offers.

The marking was intended to ensure it wouldn't go into regular stores or could be used for part exchange.
